Registration
The registration for Mahara has two steps.
Step 1:
Click on "register". You can find the link next to the login button on the right side.
You need to fill out the following form completely.
Your chosen username can consist of alphanumeric characters, dots and the @ symbol. Your username has to contain between 3 and 30 signs. The system doesn't differ between capitals and lower case letters.
For security reasons your chosen password needs to consist of at least 6 characters and at least one digit. Attention: This time the system does make the difference between capitals and lower case letters. Your password can't be the same as your username.
The rest is self-explanatory.
"I agree to the Terms and Conditions" is on "no" by default. Read the "terms and conditions". Attention: If you simply click on "terms and conditions" the text will be opened in the same window, which would erase all the information you have already entered. To avoid this, you may open the link with a right-click in a new tab or window. After reading the terms and conditions you can just close this window and continue the registration. If you agree with the terms and conditions, you can change the default answer from "no" to "yes". If you disagree with the terms and conditions you can't finish the registration process.
The captcha prevents automated registrations.
To make sure that the registration is made by a real person and not by a robot, you have to fill out the box with the pictured string. The system makes no difference between capitals and lower case letters.
After filling in all required information, you have to click on "register" and step 1 is completed.
Step 2:
You get a notification that you will receive a confirmation E-mail.
If this notification doesn't appear, you might have forgotten to fill something out or you didn't meet the conditions while choosing your username or password. An error message should give you a clue as to what the problem is.
You should get the confirmation E-mail within 5 minutes.
This E-mail will be sent to your previously stated address. It contains an activation link and only after you click it, your registration to Mahara is complete.
After completing these steps you are registered and can use Mahara.
Attention: Depending on your spam filter the confirmation E-Mail might be declared as spam. In case you don't receive the E-Mail, you might want to check your spam. In exceptional cases there might be a delay in sending the E-Mail. If you don't receive the E-Mail after 30 minutes, you might want to check your details in Mahara. You might have mistyped your E-mail address.
