Tutorial Mahara 1.0 - Groups - My Friends

In Mahara you have the possibility to add new friends on your friends list. This chapter of the tutorial shows you how to view your friends list and which the available features are. For reaching the tab My Friends you have to click the button Groups first and then the button My Friends .
Now you have the feasibility to manage your contacts. You have the categories All Friends, Currrent Friends and Pendant Friends . You may select it by clicking the appropriate category in the pop up menu. Now you have to click the button Filter to confirm it.

All Friends
Shows you current contacts as well as all pending contacts.
Current Friends
Shows your the current contacts only.
Pending Friends
Shows your pending contacts only.
As soon as you are accepting the pending contact, it is going to appear in your friends list. For sending a message to the contact, you have to click the button send message next to the avantar of the contact.
Also you can remove people from your friends list. The button remove from friends next to the accordant contact does that.
Contacts have the option to add views about themselves, which then appear on the right hand in the friends section.
Friends Control
On the right hand side of the screen you find the Friends Control panel. You can choose between three different options here.
You have following possibilities:
- Nobody may add me as a friend
Nobody can add me to their friends list.
- New friends require my authorisation
New contact requests need your authorisation. As soon as you confirm the request you will be added to their friends list.
- New friends are automatically authorised
You are automatically added to their friends list. No authorisation required.
New friends require my authorisation is the default setting. In case you want to change that, click on the accordant button and then Save .
